Wraparound Care

A welcome from Mrs McSweeney

At Radwinter Primary School our wraparound care is run 'in-house', meaning that the provision is run by school staff.  This allows us to provide consistency for the children in our care and you can reassured that the adults looking after your child will know them well and understand their needs.  A school run provision also provides the advantage of having seamless communication during the school day, allowing parents to book at short notice should the need arise.  We recognise the importance of offering a flexible and reliable service to all our parents.

We offer two breakfast club sessions.  Our Early Birds session  runs from 7.30 and costs £4, our Rise and Shine Provision is part of the Government Early Adopters Scheme and runs from 8.00 to 8.30 and is free of charge to all parents.

Our after school provision is named Dragonflies and offers three sessions - 15.10 - 16.15, 16.15 - 18.00 (for those children attending one of our extra curricular clubs first and 15.10 - 18.00.  We offer places to all year groups, and as we are school run, we do not cap numbers, instead we are able to offer additional staffing on days when attendance is higher.  We offer fruit snacks for children attending until 16.15 and a more substantial hot snack if the children are staying later.  During the session, the children have access to a wide range of activities, including construction toys, games, arts and crafts.  We can also use the outside area of the school and we have our own supply of scooters and outdoor play equipment.  My wraparound care assistants are committed to providing a fun, engaging environment for the children, and every day is a joy!

 Special Events

We also regularly run Dragonflies Special Events - these are activities which run alongside our main Dragonflies sessions and offer a one off workshop experience to any child within the school.  Over the last year we have offered sign language, art workshops, escape rooms, funfair games, crochet master classes, Christmas baking and ceramic painting - the list goes on and on!  I am passionate about offering as many fun and educational experiences to the children as possible, I love finding new and unusual things for them to do!

If you have any questions regarding our wraparound care, please pop an email to wraparound@radwinter.essex.sch.uk and I will be delighted to help.
